OVERVIEW OF CNYBA

The Central New York Baptist Association is an association of Baptist Churches affiliated with the Baptist Convention of New York and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Geography

The Central New York Baptist Association territory is a 12,000+ square mile area (larger than 8 U.S. states) of central New York state stretching from Tioga County on the Pennsylvania border north to Wayne County on Lake Ontario, east to Herkimer County and the southwest corner of Adirondack Park, and south to Delaware County and the northwest corner of Catskill Park. In addition to Tioga, Wayne, Herkimer, and Delaware; Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, and Tompkins Counties are included in the CNYBA territory.

Population

The approximately 1.76 million population (larger than 10 U.S. states) of Central New York Baptist Association territory includes three main population centers – namely Binghamton in the south, Syracuse in the north, and Utica-Rome in the northeast.

Number of Churches

There are about 45 Southern Baptist congregations affiliated with Central New York Baptist Association

Structure

The associational structure is task-oriented. Priorities are Church Strengthening, Church Planting, and Cooperative Ministry.
