    Title: Director of Missions for the Central New York Baptist Association

    Reports to: CNYBA Officers & Executive Board 

    Work Type: Part-time

    Location: Central New York 

    Pay: Negotiable based on experience and time

    Job Description: 

    The Director of Missions carries out the day-to-day work of the association’s mission. Provides leadership, inspiration, and direction for daily administration, property management and other general matters of the Association.

    Education & Experience:

    • Ordination from a Baptist Church
    • Bachelor’s degree, theological degree preferred 
    • 10+ years of church ministry experience
    • Participation in the Southern Baptist Convention

     

    Skills & Knowledge:

    • Understanding of Southern Baptist polity
    • Ability to provide consultation and counsel 
    • Assessing needs and offering appropriate solutions
    • Ability to organize and communicate

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with appropriate CNYBA members to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the Association’s strategies and ministries in accordance with the stated purpose of the Association.
    • Convene the teams of the Association for regular meetings and serve as an ex-officio member.
    • Lead and coordinate in the development of the Associational Calendar. 
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of assigned volunteers and paid staff of the Association. 
    • Serve as a liaison between the Association, the Baptist Convention of New York, the Southern Baptist Convention agencies, and entities of common faith. 
    • Maintain and manage CNYBA assets
    • Regularly communicate about associational goals and activities
    • Assist local churches by: 
      • fostering collaboration among churches,
      • recruiting pastors and pulpit supply,
      • advising how to secure funding, materials, and trainings, 
      • visiting affiliated churches, and
      • connecting with pastors for consultation and counsel

     

    Travel Expectations:

    • Drive within the Central New York Baptist Association territory
    • Attend in-person meetings to represent the CNYBA
    • Meet pastors and visit churches in-person
